Clarkston and Waterford Sports Guards

Guards, Bite Appliances

Enamel, which is the shiny, protective surface of your teeth, is the hardest natural material you can find in your body. It is even tougher than bone. Unlike bone, however, enamel cannot heal itself or regenerate after a tooth has suffered dental injury or has been worn down because of excessive teeth grinding.

We offer custom-made sports guards and bite splints that can preserve your tooth enamel and lower the risk of your teeth becoming injured.

Sports Guards

For athletes that participate  in highly physical sports such as wrestling, boxing or football, sports guards are highly effective shock absorbers that protect your teeth from blunt forces.

Unlike standard sports guards that are found and bought in stores, our custom-made sports guards are designed to accommodate the shape of your teeth and jaw -- and no one else’s. This doesn’t just mean that our sports guards are  comfortable to wear; this also means that they will remain in-place during extreme physical activity, and  provide superior protection as a result.

Bite Splints

Tooth enamel can wear down over time from excessive, involuntary teeth grinding or clenching. This condition is known as bruxism, and can result in headaches, tender jaw muscles, and tooth hypersensitivity and, of course, the degeneration of enamel.

Dental trauma and damage from bruxism can be alleviated by bite splints, which are also known as occlusal splints. Bite splints are worn over your teeth while you are sleeping, and cushion your teeth from the constant pressure that comes from excessive grinding. They are custom-made to fit a person’s mouth and jaw in order to provide the best protection possible.

When it comes to providing the best protection possible for your teeth, regular plastic mouth guards and occlusal splints just won’t do. That’s why we take the time to assess your dental problems and create a solution specially made for you. If you are an athlete looking to protect your teeth, or are suffering from bruxism, don’t hesitate to call us today.
